Expanding The Legacy
We are proud to announce that the Board of Directors has appointed Robert Ogilvie as the new Chief Executive Officer of San Francisco Beautiful.
For over 70 years SF Beautiful has played a vital role in shaping a cleaner, greener, and more welcoming San Francisco. We have championed urban greening, protecting iconic views and open spaces, advanced thoughtful public-realm policies, and mobilized civic leadership to improve the everyday places that define our city. From street tree protections and neighborhood beautification. To community grants, to citywide planning advocacy, our work has consistently paired vision with action.
Robert’s appointment marks an important next chapter in this legacy. Robert is a seasoned civic and public-space leader with deep roots in the Bay Area. His experience includes serving as a faculty member of UC Berkeley’s Department of City and Regional Planning; leadership roles at ChangeLab solutions, SPUR (as Founding Director of SPUR Oakland), Lighthouse Public Affairs; and founding his consulting practice OgilvieLabs. Across these roles, he has helped organizations strengthen partnerships, secure sustainable funding, and translate civic ambition into visible, on-the-ground impact.
Robert brings a collaborative approach to leadership—one that emphasizes measurable results, strong stewardship, and meaningful partnerships with residents, city agencies, and philanthropic supporters. Under his leadership, SF Beautiful will build on its historic accomplishments while expanding its capacity to deliver high-impact projects and advocacy that keep San Francisco thriving.
We are deeply grateful to our donors, partners, and community supporters who make this work
possible, and we look forward to continuing—and growing—this shared investment in the future
of San Francisco.
