Apply for Fiscal Sponsorship

A fiscal sponsorship confers San Francisco Beautiful’s, 501(c) 3 tax exempt status onto a project so that the project can receive grants and tax-deductible contributions that it would otherwise be unable to accept.

What services does San Francisco Beautiful provide to a fiscally funded project?

San Francisco Beautiful provides fiscal sponsorship after a written request is submitted detailing the project and budget. Once the project is approved by the SFB Board of Directors, San Francisco Beautiful oversees and helps manage the operation to ensure that the funds are used for proper purposes and to avoid tax and other legal liabilities. We also provide administrative services and a donor acknowledgement for tax purposes.
 
San Francisco Beautiful can also provide additional assistance such as helping with fundraising plans and grant writing, acting as a liaison to City staff and helping with outreach and meeting facilitation.

How do I apply for fiscal sponsorship?

Complete our online form below and we will contact you to discuss next steps. In order to apply, the project must align with our mission to enhance the beauty and livability of San Francisco and must be located within the City and County of San Francisco. Your application must include a budget and fundraising plan as well as the names and contact information of all people who will be working on the project.

How long does it take to become fiscally sponsored?

Depending on the complexity of your project it can take up to eight weeks to review your application. Once your project is accepted we will begin the legal agreement process. Please let us know if there is a grant deadline.
