Heart of the City Farmers’ Market

Heart of the City Farmers’ Market

For 35 years this farmer’s market has improved on every Wednesday and Sunday year-round at San Francisco’s United Nations Plaza, located along Market Street between 7th and 8th Streets above Civic Center BART Station. They operate as an independent non-profit with a mission to bring healthy food and nutrition education outreach to a fresh food desert that lacks a grocery store. To keep stall fees low so prices stay affordable for our low-income community, their small staff team operates on a shoestring budget and we are fondly known as “The People’s Market” for our diversity and grassroots, family-like cooperative structure. Since the market’s first day 1981, their farmers have been committed to helping to create a healthy Heart of the City.
