2024-25 Neighborhood Grants

San Francisco Beautiful is proud to announce the start of the second annual Neighborhood Beautification Grants program. Let us provide the funds that you need to beautify your neighborhood. Or someone else’s. As long as it is in San Francisco, that is fine with us. We humbly thank our finalists from 2023-24 whose creative projects and hard work have allowed for another year of Beautification Grants.

What Is It?

Available to San Francisco residents, neighborhood groups, small businesses and nonprofits, the Neighborhood Beautification Grants program once formed part of the bedrock of SFB’s popularity throughout SF. Beautification projects such as tree plantings, sidewalk steam cleaning, and murals were some notable endeavors, but the nature and scope of eligible projects will be limited only by the applicant’s creativity and purpose. We are pleased to announce the success of the 2023-24 Neighborhood Beautification Grants Program.

SFB is now accepting applications for our second annual round of projects, meant to enhance the beauty and livability of your San Francisco neighborhood. SFB’s Grants Committee will review the applications submitted, and shall present the top projects to the board and employees who will vote to determine the winners.

For consideration, please provide the indicated information on the application on this page. SFB’s Grants Committee will review all of the applications submitted. Depending on the nature of the project and application, the decision making process may require additional information or a modification from the applicant, and may take a few weeks to a few months. Applicants whose submissions are initially accepted will be contacted by SFB’s Grants Committee to further inform them of the project terms, and gather additional information.

Due to the expected number of applicants, there may be applications that are not initially accepted but could become eligible for later grants. If your proposed project is not accepted, feel free to submit another. For those that applied last year and were not selected, SFB encourages you to resubmit your project. Those who received grants for 2023-24 may apply with new project ideas, however priority will be given to new applicants and those whose projects did not make the final cut in 2023, should projects be equal in their proposed purpose and impact. SFB would like to know what kinds of beautification projects residents believe are needed in different areas of the City.

Are There any Restrictions?

San Francisco residents, neighborhood groups, 501(c)(3) organizations, and small businesses will be eligible to receive grant funds. The purpose of each proposed project must be to beautify, restore, or enhance some part of the City.

Grants will be awarded only for “hard costs” (e.g. materials such as trees & other plantings, paint, or equipment rentals to complete the project). Grant funds will not be provided for labor costs, and details of grant fund purchases, including receipts, will be asked of all recipients. In rare cases, exceptions may be made for fees to related to highly skilled work done by reputable and licensed professionals (e.g. architects, engineers, contractors).
