Next to a covered reservoir owned and managed by the SFPUC, College Hill Learning Garden was an unused triangle of land. This rare slice of open land has been converted into a sustainability demonstration garden with raised beds for agriculture, pollinator gardens, weather stations, recycling ponds, permeable paving, a composting toilet, green roof, native plantings, rainwater harvesting cisterns and rainwater bio-swales. The gardens are visited by the 5 nearby elementary schools and inspire and demonstrate sustainability in action.
