About the Neighborhood

Bernal Heights is located south of the Mission District. The area remained undeveloped since its origin in 1839 until the 1906 earthquake. Today, the neighborhood is characterized by the radio tower located on top of Bernal Heights Summit. Source: Wikipedia

Fun Fact: Thanks to its bedrock foundation, Bernal Heights was one of the areas spared from the 1906 earthquake and fire. Some small houses created with timber from the wreckage still remain. Source: SF Gate
