About the Neighborhood

Market Street begins at the Ferry Building at The Embarcadero and runs through downtown, the Civic Center and the Castro District to the Twin Peaks neighborhood. Today Market Street serves as one of the most important thoroughfares in San Francisco and a transportation hub for Muni, Muni Metro and BART. Source: Wikipedia

Fun Fact: Market Street was designed by Jasper O’Farrell, and established as the widest street in San Francisco with 120 feet between property lines. The honor of the widest street now belongs to Van Ness Avenue, barely beating Market Street with 125 feet between property lines. Source: Wikipedia
