During 2014, SF Beautiful, Invest In Neighbors, and the Lower Fillmore Merchants conducted an intensive outreach campaign to learn about the ways the Fillmore community wanted to improve the streetscape experience. Key priorities were identified and then translated into a design. Four final concepts were presented to the community, and more than 200 people participated in a vote to choose the winning design.
We are happy to announce the winning design “Natural Texture” for the Lower Fillmore Beautification Project. You can review the four options here.
Here is the final tally:
89 – Natural Texture
67 – Fillmore of Jazz
47 – Translucent Blue
34 – Splashes of Color
237 total votes
Special thanks to the Fillmore community for sharing your valuable ideas and coming out to vote! Special thanks to our Beautification Committee Chair, Harmony Fraga, and Lower Fillmore Merchants Association who have devoted their time and energy for an even better Fillmore.
We couldn’t have made it this far without our partners: Amy Cohen from the Office of Economic and Workforce Development (OEWD), Andrea Baker Consulting, and President of the Board of Supervisors London Breed.
A shout out to the Fillmore Auditorium, 1300 Fillmore, Fillmore Street Café, Yoshi’s, and the Social Study for offering space and staff support for outreach meetings and events.
Please stay tuned for project updates in the following months. Using this design we will begin to work with Fillmore merchants on improving their storefronts. Micro business grants will be given out to businesses on Lower Fillmore. If you have any questions please email email@example.com.
